Antwerp Mabuhay Lodgings offers 2 standard Bed and Breakfast rooms with a shared bathroom, and 3 fully furnished self-catering studios / apartments where you can enjoy the benefit of having your own kitchen and private bathroom. Our lodgings are all located in the center of the city with popular hang-outs in neighborhood of local artists (Zurenborg). Your hosts, Eric and Herman, greet you a warm "Mabuhay"! (welcome!)
Experience Asian Hospitality in a European Setting. You are welcomed here as a
good friend and not as a hotel guest. Zurenborg gives you a
special feeling of how "life" is living in Antwerp. Feel the true spirit of living like-a-local.
Eric was
born in Manila, the capital city of the Philippines. He worked in
a marketing office and was also a professional dancer in his home
country before moving to Belgium in June 2002. Eric holds a
M.A.degree in International Management from in Brussels and keeps
himself busy managing the bed and breakfast, studying languages and
photography. He also gives dance lessons to
teenagers and adults specializing in streetdance, modern jazz and fusion
classes.
Eric has performed in various places around Belgium for different TV
shows, concerts and has done back-up dancing with Belgian artists. Eric
loves traveling and meeting different people from different cultures.
Herman, "The Jack of all Trades", as Eric describes him is ‘the’ person to count on. He practically knows everything, especially regarding all technical matters and things. Herman works well with computer programs (mastering Linux system) , repairing machines, electricity, and building or renovating houses. Herman is a true "handyman"! Herman was born in Kalmthout, 25km from Antwerp and moved to the city in 1995. He prepares a very good Belgian mashed potato and vegetable soup, which some guests are able to taste. With his cooking specialties, Herman can surely bring his friends to cloud 9!... Literally, he’s been there plenty of times because he has been a pilot! Herman currently works in a construction company and an advertising office.
About Bambam
You would
see him walking around the house thinking he's The "Big Boss"... A very
elegant and territorial cat. He sometimes thinks that he's a
panther but still remains a pussy and gets easily scared. Bambam,
a 14-year old cat and still our baby! This cat comes with a manual, you
have to know how to handle him.
About Amanda
A Norweigian forest cat lost in a small town in France and finding her way back home not knowing that its a luggage! Catherine (ex-neighbour) found Amanda sleeping inside her lugage at the backstage after doing a show in France. The poor little cat losing her mama has finally found a second home in the Draakstraat.
